Real Respite: App Preview
Real Respite meets users where they are. The onboarding flow reflects the app’s core principle: regulation before information, presence before process.
Onboarding Flow
1. Initial Check-In
When the app launches for the first time, users are greeted with a simple slider showing a thumbs-up and thumbs-down. This is not a mood tracker—it’s a capacity check. The system uses this signal to set the pace and tone for the session.
2. Adaptive Response
The app responds to the slider choice with a short, gentle message. If the user indicates difficulty, the pacing slows and language softens. If the user indicates stability, the system proceeds more directly. This demonstrates Real Respite’s core design: attunement to the user’s real state.
3. Guided Setup
Instead of overwhelming forms or dense legal text, the AI companion walks users through terms and conditions in plain language. It explains what information is stored and what is not, and guides users step by step through account creation.
The process is conversational, paced, and fully interruptible—users can pause at any time.
4. Entering the System
After setup, users enter the main Real Respite environment. The relational logic established during onboarding continues throughout the experience: state-aware responses, attuned pacing, and process-driven interactions.
Why This Matters
This onboarding flow is not a stylistic choice—it’s essential to how the system works. Real Respite’s relational model relies on real-time attunement, so the first interaction establishes a baseline of safety, responsiveness, and support.
The app experience is designed to feel calm, adaptive, and grounded in actual capacity, not a series of prompts or tasks.
